Abstract

Since the second half of the twentieth century, anthropocentric principles reflecting the main directions of studying social data about a native speaker (a linguistic personality, a representative of a gender group) have become the basis for the development of scientific conclusions in the field of gender linguistics. Scientific research is underway and theoretical substantiation practices are developing that determine the system characteristics, essence and composition, functions, and connections of gender linguistic categories. In particular, in the study of the manifestation of gender opposition in language in gender linguistics, along with research on linguocognitive, linguocultural, sociolinguistic, and psycholinguistic orientation, the importance of lexicographic research is manifested.
The experience of representing gender opposition in the lexicographic system of a language is one of the problems of scientific interest. Important for the research in this article is the practice of transmitting binary gender opposition using lexicographic methods. The purpose of the article is to analyze the lexemes that make up the gender opposition from the point of view of lexicographic description. Since research in the field of gender linguistics is complex, depending on the scientific form, the analyzed data are covered from various sources and systems. For this purpose, the method of describing gender lexemes in lexicographic sources from an oppositional point of view was used.
The lexicographic system of a language is a system that can describe linguistic and cultural being, value orientation (axiological being), connotational and conceptual spheres of any language and, therefore, is of great importance for gender studies. The analysis of gender oppositions based on their manifestation in the lexicographic system allows the use of the lexicographic methodology for gender research, identifies ways to describe the gender identity of languages, actualizes the directions of development of lexicography practice, and reveals the functional nature of language.
